July highlights: New case study, FEA collaboration, and leadership insights
Welcome to our July newsletter, where we look back at the first half of 2025 and share how the ETL has been building connections, refining standards, and developing new tools to advance energy efficiency across industries. This issue includes updates on our collaboration with the Foodservice Equipment Association (FEA) to simplify sustainable choices for commercial kitchens, and fresh insights from Kristina Allison on leadership and the importance of diverse perspectives in driving progress.
We’re also featuring a new case study highlighting how Adande’s ETL listed, flexible refrigeration technology, helped Whitbread reduce energy use by nearly half in its “Kitchen of the Future” project.
This month also includes a reminder that manufacturers can enhance their ETL listings by adding Technical Specifications and BIM Object files, a feature that several companies have already adopted. And as always, we’re pleased to announce a range of new product listings this month, including additions from MITA Cooling Technologies, Pentland Wholesale, and Baxi Heating-Commercial.
LATEST UPDATES
Mid-Year Review: Progress and Developments in Energy Efficiency
The ETL remains a vital tool helping manufacturers connect with purchasers who prioritise energy efficiency, while supporting businesses and the public sector to identify products that reduce costs and emissions. Our recent mid-year review outlines strengthened partnerships, sector engagement, and key technical updates that support sustainability focused decision making.
ETL and the FEA: Supporting Smarter Choices in Foodservice
Our ongoing partnership with the Foodservice Equipment Association (FEA) helps buyers easily find high performing, energy saving commercial kitchen products. Professional Foodservice Equipment is a growing focus for the ETL, with nearly 60 combination ovens and 70 refrigerated storage cabinets now listed. A recent article by the FEA highlights this collaboration and new initiatives aimed at making purchasing decisions simpler.

Adande refrigeration helps Whitbread cut energy use by 46%
Whitbread’s “Kitchen of the Future” project at Oxford Beefeater used Adande’s refrigerated drawer units to reduce energy consumption by nearly half while improving kitchen efficiency and food quality. Their flexible, modular solution, listed on the ETL, met the demands of high-volume kitchens while delivering notable operational and sustainability benefits.
Enhance your listings with BIM and Technical Specification files
Our latest functionality continues to support better decision making for specifiers, designers and buyers by allowing manufacturers to add detailed Technical Specification and BIM object files to product listings. This month, MITA and Pentland Wholesale became the latest manufacturers to use this feature, uploading files for their newly listed products helping to improve visibility and usability of their listings. If you're submitting a new application, upload your files directly via the manufacturer portal.
We’re pleased to welcome MITA Cooling Technologies to the ETL with three newly listed products from their MCE series. Designed for use in air conditioning and industrial refrigeration, these evaporative condensers offer an energy efficient alternative to traditional water cooled or air cooled systems.
They shared: "We are pleased to introduce our evaporative condensers to the ETL. We believe being in this scheme is important to highlight the benefits of our MCE evaporative condenser line to anyone looking to design or implement refrigeration systems. These units are available for a wide range of refrigerants, ammonia included."
Pentland Wholesale join our growing list of manufacturers
We are delighted to welcome another new manufacturer as Pentland Wholesale list their first BLIZZARD under counter refrigerator to the Professional Refrigerated Storage Cabinets category.
A spokesperson said: "Pentland Wholesale are proud to have their first Blizzard refrigerator verified and listed as an energy efficient product on the ETL website. A lot of work goes into the development of the brand to improve performance and reliability; More Blizzard products will be added in due course."
Baxi adds six Hot Water Boilers
Baxi Heating-Commercial continues to grow their presence on the ETL, adding five new hot water boilers to the boiler equipment category this month, giving purchasers an even wider choice of higher efficiency solutions.
Baxi said: “Being recognised on the Energy Technology List is a huge validation of our commitment to sustainability and innovation. The enhancements to the Quinta Ace range clearly speak for themselves: better performance, lower emissions, and real savings for our customers.”
