Welcome back to the ETL newsletter, taking a look at the latest exciting developments for the Government-backed energy saving programme.
The ETL’s 2023/24 Research programme has made updates to criteria in nine sub-technologies, and these changes are now live.
Autoflame’s Mini Mk8 MM micro-modulating controllers were fitted to boilers at London’s Leadenhall Building and an NHS hospital, making significant savings. Our newest case study reveals all.

Changes to criteria now live from 2023/24 Research Programme
The ETL’s annual Research Programme reviews measurement standards, performance thresholds and eligibility criteria to ensure that the scheme continues to identify the top 25% of products in their class. Changes from the 2023/24 Research Programme are now live, with updates affecting nine sub-technologies, including HVAC Building Controls and Cellar Cooling Equipment. Autoflame’s Mini Mk8 MM: Savings for Leadenhall Building and the NHS
London’s Leadenhall Building and an NHS hospital in the west of England both benefited from installing Autoflame’s, Mini Mk8 MM, listed in the Retrofit Burner Controls sub-technology on the ETL. By upgrading their boiler systems, the Leadenhall Building saved £60,000 and the NHS hospital over £9,600 per annum. Find all the details in our new case study.
Women Driving Change in the Energy Savings Industry - Tracy Southwell
In our latest interview in the series, we speak with Hobart UK Equipment Division’s first female Managing Director, Tracy Southwell. In March, the ETL team headed back to Futurebuild to exhibit, network with industry professionals, and attend talks from speakers across the sustainable building industry. This year, we noted that many more attendees knew about the ETL and its benefits – a sign of progress for the scheme. Williams Refrigeration lists new Professional Refrigerated Storage Cabinet
Williams Refrigeration has added the Jade Upright, typically used in commercial kitchens, to the Professional Refrigerated Storage Cabinets sub-technology.
A spokesperson from Williams Refrigeration said: ‘As a manufacturer of some of the most energy efficient refrigeration equipment on the market through our greenlogic initiative, the ETL provides a great platform for Williams to further promote its equipment to those seeking independently verified and accredited equipment’.
Victor Manufacturing adds two Refrigerated Display Cabinets
Victor Manufacturing has added to its existing six listings with two more Refrigerated Display Cabinets, the MAXI100VDMTECO+ and the MAXI100VDSTECO+. These products are designed to store and display chilled and frozen food within the retail industry.
Sean Snowden from Victor Manufacturing said: ‘Our research and development projects have been driven by market demand and the need for more energy efficient refrigerated display cabinets. This is re-enforced by the ETL listings, providing provenance and evidence to customers that the units meet stringent testing and performance requirements.’
27 new products listed for NORD Gear
NORD Gear has added 27 new products in the Converter-Fed Motors sub-technology. The company now has a total of 802 listings on the ETL. Converter-Fed Motors come under the Motors, Drives & Fans technology family and are products that convert electrical power into mechanical power and are used in a wide variety of applications throughout industry and commerce.
