April updates: Collaborations, case studies, interviews, and events!

In this round up, we share the latest developments from the ETL, including insights on lighting, foodservice, and building standards.

This month, we highlight our ongoing collaboration with SKArating, which aligns criteria across both schemes and continues to support higher energy efficiency standards in the sustainable building sector. Meanwhile, our latest case study looks at how Hobart used ETL-listed dishwashers to demonstrate measurable energy and sustainability performance.

In our Women Driving Change series, we speak with Emma Brooks, Managing Director of Quintex Systems Ltd and Chair of the Foodservice Equipment Association, about her career journey and approach to leadership in the energy savings industry. Adding to the conversation on progress and practical change, Kristina Allison of WSP and the Society of Light and Lighting shares a four-pillar framework for designing lighting systems that support energy reduction and Net Zero goals.

At this year’s HRC event, we spoke with manufacturers about innovations in foodservice equipment, from AI integration to smarter appliance connectivity, and how the sector is adapting to meet sustainability goals. Futurebuild 2025 offered a broader view across the built environment, with discussions on solar energy, heat pump efficiency, and centralised heating networks.

Finally, we welcomed new additions to the ETL, expanding the range of technologies that support more sustainable practices across sectors.
