September highlights: partnerships, products, and women driving change
As autumn begins, the ETL continues to advance energy efficiency across the built environment and industrial sectors. Recent updates include further collaborations with Eurovent and SKArating and new opportunities to shape public sector procurement through Defra’s Government Buying Standards (GBS) survey.
We’re also pleased to feature another edition of our Women Driving Change series, highlighting Caroline Bragg of the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE), who shares leadership insights and lessons.
Finally, we’re delighted to showcase new product listings, with Pentland Wholesale expanding its range of refrigeration equipment, NORD Gear adding 60 new Variable Speed Drives, and DMS Metering introducing a new aM&T product. These additions broaden the choice of independently verified technologies available, making it easier for manufacturers and specifiers to find the right solutions.
LATEST UPDATES
Eurovent certified rooftop heat pumps now easier to list
The ETL and Eurovent Certification have strengthened their collaboration to simplify listing and selecting rooftop heat pump units in the UK. Rooftop units join an expanding list of Eurovent Certification-aligned sub-technologies, which now totals six heat pump sub-technologies as well as Evaporative Air Coolers and Refrigerated Display Cabinets. Eurovent-certified manufacturers can now use existing test reports to apply for the ETL, reducing time and complexity for manufacturers, providing purchasers with independently verified, high-performing products that support energy efficiency and sustainability goals.
On Monday, 15 September, SKArating launched its updated framework for non-domestic office fit outs. A key commercial benefit is its alignment with the ETL, meaning products listed on the ETL automatically meet the criteria for SKArating-certified projects. This update covers sub-technologies such as BEMS, aM&T, heat pumps, heat recovery ventilation units, and lighting, helping to promote the adoption of top-performing technologies.
Women Driving Change: Caroline Bragg on leading the energy efficiency challenge
In our latest interview, Caroline Bragg, CEO of the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE), reflects on her career journey and the lessons she has learned about leadership. She describes energy efficiency as “the challenge of our time” and highlights why diverse perspectives and collaborative leadership are essential in shaping the future of sustainable technology.
Defra has launched a stakeholder survey to shape upcoming updates to the Government Buying Standards (GBS). Open until Monday 6 October, the survey is your chance to influence future standards, ensure your organisation’s perspectives are heard, and support sustainable public sector procurement. The ETL is referenced in the GBS for electrical goods, reflecting its role as a trusted resource for energy efficient products.
DMS Metering have added the Supercal 5S / SuperStatic 440 to the ETL. This unit delivers accurate metering and energy-efficient performance, supporting sustainable building management and helping organisations reduce energy waste.
They shared: "The Supercal 5S / SuperStatic 440, support our sustainability goals by ensuring energy-efficient performance, accurate metering, and compliance with strict environmental standards—helping reduce energy waste and promote responsible resource management in line with green building and carbon reduction initiatives."
NORD Gear add 60 VSDs
NORD Gear have added 60 Variable Speed Drive (VSD) units to the ETL. This adds to their existing extensive range of listed VSDs and other products, including converter-fed motors. VSDs allow precise control of motor speed and torque, improving energy efficiency in applications such as conveyor systems, pumps, and agitators. NORD Gear offer helical, bevel, parallel shaft and worm gear units as part of this range.
Pentland Wholesale expand listings
Pentland Wholesale have added a new BLIZZARD beverage cooler to the ETL, following the listing of their first under counter refrigerator in July. Both products also include technical specifications and BIM Object files, increasing visibility and making them easier for specifiers to select and integrate.
